They recycled the old Isuzu lump for 1,700cc and then their own 2.2 which was a total disaster initially and must have cost them a fortune in warranty claims.

Not forgetting the Rover L-series (which I just did).

The Circle L is everything a diesel ought to be, before the Germans tried to use them as a tool of world domination.

Technically unambitious, versatile and ancient in origin, and quite possibly indestructible, it's the Borgward D4M or Perkiness 4.108 of its time.

The Circle L's ancestry goes back to the Bellett engine of 1963, five years younger than the Perkiness 4.99, which remained in production until 1992, and possibly later.

This is crazy. They should be incentivising people to avoid buying new diesel cars, not ripping off owners of diesel cars bought under a tax system set up to specifically incentivise their purchase.

Iíve visited Bristol many times but Iíve never come away thinking that air pollution was akin to Shanghai or Delhi.

Daft and unfair.

They should also ban diesel police cars, ambulances, bin lorries and hospital backup generators.

Personally, I think banning Bristol would've been a wiser move. If there was ever a town for the front cover of SHITHOLES I HAVE KNOWN, it'd be Brizzle.
