Very true Barry, not since STUPID DAVE activated Article 50.
About the only thing the government can do is withold money to Europe, but that won’t happen.

Time to get tied to the deck of the sinking ship and watch the iceberg I guess.

It seems that some are disappointed by Mays deal but I really can't see how anyone could have done better. The wins she got for Britain seem to have gotten lost among the arguments.

The only option other than a deal is to just leave which would lead to economic Armageddon for Britain. That's realistically never been an option for decision makers.

From the outside looking in, I genuinely think May has shown some true grit in an impossible situation. To have lasted this long and taken it this far has been a miracle. Every leader makes poor decisions but in certain areas I don't think there was a right decision to be made.

What do you see as wins, Barry?

The one that seems to get trumpeted most loudly is the end of free movement across borders. But that isn't the reason I voted out, nor many people that share my view. Worse still it's the one that paints us unfairly as racists.

The big problem with Mays deal is how it continues to tie us financially, regulatory and judicially to the EU and commits us to any future plans of military and federal union with no further influence and no option to exit or veto. THIS is what I voted to avoid.

I am coming round to agreeing with this. If the EU had offered Cameron "associate" UK membership on terms like these in 2016, we'd have voted to remain.

The best argument for the May deal is that Leave only won 52/48 and the best response to that was always going to be a compromise that the losers can eventually come to terms with.

I think it's worse. We're basically tied to a set of regulations which we won't have the chance to influence all in return for getting less out of the whole thing. I accept she has been dealt a bad hand, but it's not a good deal.

Quite Sandie.

I missed this the other day we can still remain, and still get Corbyn government.

I'm afraid that with some here at the levers of government in 1940, the second world war would have ended early that summer.
