From these negotiations, there was a plan submitted for TR7/8 to go to DeLoran to be manufactured in Belfast and sold (when face lifted with O-series) as cheaper DMCs. I think that plan had legs. |

Shame the Broadside or Lynx did not find their way to DMC, better than all the pressings and tooling being melted down. |

They'd have been up against the same problem as BL - the strong pound in the early Thatcher era made it impossible to sell anything other than high-end British cars profitably in the USA.
Perhaps JZDeL's plans might have gone better if he'd chosen dollar-zone Puerto Rica as his base as originally planned, rather than taken the NIDA's too-good-to-be-true offer. |
