I fear we're too far down the bottle for me to explain that I'm not a real otter.

I never enjoyed the spurious chrome strip on the snout of the VDP.

Not an alloy wheel in sight too.

Those were the days.

Badged to be Rover, more like.

Things could have been very different if SD3 had been the Triumph Acclaim 2.

The car that could have made the Montego superfluous.

I reckon it have looked quite good with a hatch or estate back.

Bit top-heavy, being barely larger than a B-segment in footprint.

A similar design on the Accord base would have made the Mongtego weep real tears.

Father ST looked at buying one new around 1987/88 but plumped for a Metro instead. I liked them a lot, especially the Vitesse version but he found the the 1600 was a bit juicy for around doors and he wanted a hatchback and was not a fan of the Maestro (probably due to having to drive van cersions daily for Buzby I imagine).
It was the impression test driving that car which I think led him to buying his R8 several years later.

You really oughtn't place an Allegro next to a Princess - it looks crash-tested.

My mate's didn't look much different after he rear-ended a hesitant driver with a tow ball on a roundabout.

They mocked up a hatch in the Canley studio.

Not one of your better efforts? Or maybe the car is just a bit shit to start with?

Why don't you Rover-ise little Civic 4x4 thingy?

I remember Bob Jankel making a few XJ40 coupes. It wasn't a bad effort but the doors needed to be longer.

The factory did of course make an XJ40 coupe. A whooping 6.0 V12 effort. The B Pillar is a bit rubbish but that apart it looked tempting.

B-pillar was always a bit rubbish on the XJ40s.

Might've got away with in in matt black.
