What an absolute BEAST.

So far Iíve ordered a new grill as this one is as a gap toothed as an Irishman and enough fluids to sink a battleship; engine oil, ATF, diff oil and transfer box oil.

Other than that itís had a little scrub up and gone into daily use while the Streetwise is being loaned out to the sister-in-law. Averaging 29.6 MPG which considering the fucking heft of the thing doesnít seem too shabby.

Itís the car the Range Rover wishes it was.

Replace the intake tube and seals while you have the bonnet up. Cheaper from MB dealer than anywhere I found online. Be careful when refilling with oil, it looks as if you havenít put enough in but you end up overfilling it and it will blow out of every seal going including all over the alternator resulting in an expensive replacement.

And the 29.6 will be US gallons. And watch out if you service it before an MOT, remove the battery for any reason and then have it default to kilometres so it makes it look like itís done a ruck more miles than it has.

The CRD is the same engine as the 'Benz 350CDI isn't it? While it's no V8, it pulls like a train.

29 yank MPG is 35 MPG in real money. It seems thereís some discussion on the JEEP forums wether itís US or Imperial with no definitive answer

Itís a 3.0 CRD.

My E350 only did 37mpg in miser mode. There's no way a 3t barn door is doing close to that.

Just had a look and the trip computer is showing 10.9 KM/L in FOREN which is 29.odd in imperial MPG.

Iíll have to have work it out in real world consumption but Iím quite chuffed with what itís showing at the moment.

MIL's sucked these into the turbo and fucked itself.

Also have a search online for the known shifter fault on these. It's an easy but frustrating fix. Apparently the Seppo owners like to keep a spare on the shelf to swap in while fixing the other.

They look very similar to the originals that are known to fail. The replacement from MB was black and was on the new pipe. It stopped all the blow back, improved idle and the oil misting (although it still had a bit of a breather mist).

Let me find the original thread if I can.

This is the only bookmark I have that still works. I sold the car in 2011 after a few months of ownership.

I've done the fuel filter. It's at the top of the engine under the acoustic cover. It's a doddle.
