7 days charge with constant use. BRILLIANT

It's just like everyone in MG decided an electric ZS would be a great idea but they all wanted it to make MG great again but they fucked ut up by not being able to agree how it should be done.

USELESS

They should stick an old school dynamo from a bicycle on one wheel and make it self charging

No rapid charge facility either, which means that unless your round trip is less than 100 miles, forget it. Never mind 45mins sat about, try 5 hours.
They may as well just not bother, unless it's about five grand brand new and they only expect to sell a few.

This could also be used for linear propulsion and braking.

It wouldn't be pleasant for anyone with metal implants trying to cross the road, mind.

MG claim 266 miles from the eZS.

https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mg/zs/105257/new-all-electric-mg-ezs-revealed-with-266-mile-range

Is a Chinese mile 0.46 British Miles?

Quote:
It also appears to have fast-charging capacity; MG claims that up to 80 per cent of charge can be replenished in 30 minutes.

Talking to my BIL last night, who works in the EV infrastructure business in San Fran. He reckons you get about 3.5 miles out of each kilowatt hour. So that would make it about 76 kWh for this car.

I have a sneaking suspicion the eZS might be a real BTH for MG.
Sure it won't have the longest range for an EV, or fastest recharge time etc or best performance but bear in mind this is sourced from China, meaning production costs will be far lower than a Tesla, VW or Jaguar etc and EVs in China have grown in popularity over the past few years, the biggest barrier to them selling outside China is the lack of a range of home owned marques with any real credability.

Kia and Hyaundai have pushed the cost point downwards for their latest EVs but could MG be the first to crack the sub £20k barrier for a genuine useable EV?

VW are hinting they might be able to do that, but will it be a full 5 seater SUV like the ZS?

Maybe, but there is a wide open goal at the moment for a spacious and very cheap EV.

Let's look at the past evidence, shall we.
It will be priced well over what it should be, I'd say closer to 30k than 20k.
I'm told it does have rapid charge capability, but because the Chinese use a different plug, it doesn't work in Europe.
It will probably be low on efficiency, so less than 3 miles per Kwh.
The Iconiq does 4-4.5 miles per Kwh at this time of the year. A Leaf gets 3.5 ish.
Overpriced, inefficient and outdated. Also, no dealers, no spares, no point.
How is a little backstreet indy dealer going to cope with a EV?
