Serious question - will the err... garish paintwork not make that grow roots on your forecourt? A red petrol Benz is Shirley less of a niche product than a smurf blue saloon car?

(Iím sure itís quite fabulous to drive all the same.)

The blue paint I could live with but black alloys are just too council estate IMHO.

Itís the carbon pack. Theyíre no black they have carbon fibre effect paint.

More council estate than an X-Lax parked next to an R8 with a grill it shouldnít have on it?? Bold statement.

Negative. Youíll not get it on for all the scrap and old sofas. Itís not like I have a starter-home cluttered with old Jags, Rovers and negative equity adorned french tackle! This is the North!

Aye, if folk dislike them for not being subtle they're missing the point. They did that with the XJR and Supersport.

Weirdly they remind me of the ZS180 styling-wise particularly the MASSIVE WING.

Aye. I reckon I'd spec that colour. Shouty cars need Shouty colours. See the asbo Focus for details.

The Yanks started it with their Muscle cars back in the 1960s, loud colours and lots of added bits like wings and stripes to shout about the outrageous power outputs many of them had. OTT and sometimes tacky, AMC were even going to market an all Matt black painted model called The Machine around 1968/9 but in the end went for a more palatable red, white and blue scheme, something that predated todayís Matt black council estate B** 330s by around fifty years.
The French Blue scheme on the XFR is unsubtle and the performance of the car allows it to carry it off but the black/carbon effect wheels or whatever the company wants to call them to fleece extra money from the first owner just look shite.

Funny how Opehall have stayed true to the inane, cheesy grin to the present day.

I wonder if that's one reason the brand is now so hated, in an age when everyone seems to buy angry-looking cars with Peterbilt-sized grilles.
