It's been 13 years since I've been able to look at cars without MPG being the primary concern.
I fancy something decent.
Must be able to tow a caravan and carry durgs
No filthy fuel either.

I've started with a list of:
Range Rover/Spurt supercharged
Cayanne Turbo
Grand Cherokee Hemi
300c Touring Hemi/SRT8
S6 Avant
E500 of one wxists
Spme sort of 5 series V8
Anything else, other than a City Rover, or killing myself?

You’ll pay through the nose now Colm. The days of the cheap V8 have long since passed.

You've got to go with Chrysler. Those Septics know how to make a V8 and know how to tow. And they aren't pretentious shite.

Budget is a stab around 10k to start. May well rise to 15.
M/AMG/R/RS stuff is out due to no towbar allowed.
Or E63/55would be front centre.
ZTT is a silly low tow weight.
300+bhp would be ideal.
Has to be estate/Hatch or SUV due to many kids and dogs.

Please don’t get a RR Spurt Colm. It’ll bankrupt you they’re so woefully fragile.

What about an ML500 or ML63?

The 63s are allowed to tow.

Not thought of those...
I agree. RR is a nice but no. I think Cayanne is in that category too.
300c SRT8 looks good, if I can find a non monged one.

Performance = no.
I'll do some reading on those ML things. I reckon that's everything I want in a vehicle.

I’m intrigued by this search since I set out on a similar Swarding mission a few years ago (albeit without the need for a tow-bar), but again hatch/estate only. No kids/dogs but no desire to hire an estate car every time I needed to take something to the tip.

Everything powerful I found for £10,000-£15,000 seemed to be on sale by Giles’ favoured car park traders with some masquerading as private sales. Most looked to be on the edge of needing another £10,000-£15,000 spending on TADTS style repairs so I gave up.
